01The challenge

No single view of the hospital's day.

Hospital teams were juggling bookings, doctor rotas, room availability, patient status and maintenance requests across separate systems and paper. Nobody had a single view of the day.

Our role: End to end: product design, full-stack development and launch of the MVP.

02Project goals

What the MVP had to prove.

  1. Give staff one view of the day

Bookings, available doctors, free rooms and open requests on a single screen, instead of across systems.

  2. Make scheduling visible

Show who is available and when, so appointments go to the right doctor the first time.

  3. Keep patients moving

Track each patient from booking to confirmed to seen, with a clear status at every step.

  4. Validate with real users early

Put the core workflows in front of hospital staff before investing in a full platform.

03What we built

One dashboard for patients, staff and rooms.

  1. Operations dashboard

Doctors on staff, bookings, room availability across general and private rooms, and health trends.

  2. Appointments and calendar

A monthly calendar with activity details, and a day-by-day schedule of who is seeing whom.

  3. Doctors' schedules

Each doctor's department, hours and availability, so staff can book against real capacity.

  4. Patient records and status

Patient list with date in, diagnosis and status, from incoming to confirmed or cancelled.

  5. Department insights

Patient mix by department and a monthly patient overview compared with the previous year.

  6. Facilities requests

Transport, equipment maintenance, room cleaning, HVAC and medication restock requests in one queue.

04How we delivered

From first workshop to production.

  1. 01

    Scope

Chose the core workflows for the first release, and what to leave for later.

  2. 02

    Design

Dashboard, scheduling and patient flows, with light and dark themes.

  3. 03

    Build

A Next.js application with a type-safe tRPC API over PostgreSQL, hosted on AWS.

  4. 04

    Launch

Released to first users to gather feedback for the next iteration.
